The 2022/23 Victorian State Series is underway, with the Victorian Duathlon Championships at Caribbean Gardens kicking off the season on Sunday.
Wet and windy conditions weren’t enough to deter athletes eager to secure a 2022/23 Victorian Championship medal at the first opportunity. The sloping run course and heavy head-winds on the bike leg provided a challenging race for competitors.
Calvin Amos was first across the line, securing the Victorian Championship in the Male 25-29 category. Tom Page and Tristan Price rounded out the top three, both securing Victorian Championships for their categories in the process.
Jo Ritson was the first female to finish, completing a trifecta of overall wins in the Victorian Duathlon Series and claiming bragging rights in the Female 34-39 category. Hot on her heals were Gretel Squire and Sophie Walmsley were second and third across the line.
The 2022/23 Victorian State Series continues with the long course triathlon at IROMAN 70.3 Melbourne on November 13.
