The Ballerine Peninsula turned on the charm this morning as racing returned for the popular Barwon Heads Triathlon.
Now in its sixth year, close to 700 participants, including 300 first-timers, contested the coastal course. Athletes started at the Ozone Jetty for the swim, the bike course took riders along 13th Beach Road and the run leg over the Barwon Heads footbridge with the turnaround mark at 2km.
2020 champion Adam Conquest took line honours with a back-to-back victory in a blistering 0:39:04:1, shaving close to a minute off his 2020 time. Following Conquest in was Georg Fellner with a time of 0:41:45:1, edging out Male Open winner Brad Bullock in a time of 0:41:55:5.
The trio were followed by Louise Wood from the Ballarat Triathlon Club, who took out the Female Open title in a time of 0:48:59:3, followed by Ringwood Triathlon Club’s Beth Inglis and Beckworth Racing’s Alana Park with times of 0:49:36.3 and 0:50:11.3, respectively.
