Volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport and without them, we would face many resourcing challenges.
Each season, we need a strong network of Technical Officials to service our events and right now, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to become Technical Officials.
Our technical teams are responsible for ensuring that Triathlon Victoria sanctioned events are run in accordance with Triathlon Australia’s (TA) Race Competition Rules (RCR).
Our officials play a critical role in:
- Creating an atmosphere of sportsmanship, equality and fair play;
- Optimise safety and protection;
- Penalise competitors who seek to gain an unfair advantage; and
- Emphasise ingenuity and skill without unduly limiting the competitor’s freedom of action.
Becoming a Technical Official is a great way to be involved in the sport you love. Whether you are no longer competing, currently injured or just interested in a new challenge, we would love to have you on board.
Our Victorian technical team are a diverse group of athletes, coaches and triathlon enthusiasts who want to give back to the community and work to ensure that racing is safe, fair and fun. While a Technical Official’s role is considered volunteering, there is a payment for each event you officiate.
Online training is available through Triathlon Australia, and Triathlon Victoria has a mentoring program in place to fast-track training and learning.
By completing the training and officiating at three races per year, you can also earn yourself a free Triathlon Australia membership for the following season (club membership fees still apply). The opportunity to officiate at ITU events and experience triathlon on the world stage also exists.
So, what are you waiting for? Hit the registration link and start your officiating career today!
