The disruption to sporting events in Victoria due to COVID-19 has been significant and most likely felt by all of us, directly or through family and friends. Like you, we’re anxious to get back to racing, but only in the safest way possible to participants and the broader community.
As we wait on an update from the Premier regarding the lifting or change to Stage 4 restrictions, the Victorian Duathlon Series remains on our schedule with the State Championship event slated for October 18, 2020 (2020-21 Triathlon Victoria members will receive a priority entry period).
We will provide an update on the status of this event around September 16, once we know the full outcome of the Premier’s media announcement (expected on September 13 or 14).
Our team continues to work closely with the Victorian government, permitting agencies, and event organisers to plan and prepare for the return to racing. It is expected that when events do return, they will operate on a smaller scale initially and with a priority on athlete safety and member access.
As we wait for the Victorian lockdown to end, we encourage you to consider our new Virtual Club Race Series. All affiliated clubs are eligible to register for the competition and there is no limit on the number of competitors (members only). So get on your club’s socials and get involved in this six-race series through to Christmas.
I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding in this ever-changing environment and we’ll be back with further information in a few weeks.
Be kind, be calm, be safe.
Kind regards,
Grant Cosgriff
Executive Director
