Triathlon Victoria is encouraging its triathlon community to Pay It Forward this season and help those within the sport who are currently doing it tough.
Pay It Foward is a crowdfunding campaign created to help support our members who are undergoing financial hardship due to COVID-19 and unable to renew their membership for the 2020-21 season.
The campaign, which has been set up through the Australian Sports Foundation, allows the swim, bike and run community to give either a donation towards a membership or fully fund a membership for a fellow club or Triathlon Victoria member.
Triathlon Victoria Executive Director, Grant Cosgriff, is encouraging the Victorian triathlon community to get behind Pay It Foward and support each other.
“COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the triathlon community, both socially and economically. We wanted to do something to help clubs retain their members and support those who are doing it tough, and Pay It Foward is one way for us to keep the two connected,” said Cosgriff.
“The Victorian triathlon community is a passionate one and we know the support will be there to help those who need it,”
“We know participation in sport enhances physical and mental health and we believe we have a role to play in supporting the wellbeing of our triathlon community by keeping members connected to their club. Our message is simple; there has never been a more important time to support each other.”
Being a triathlon club member offers more than just the practical benefits of group training, coaching, events etc, it is the intangibles like friendship, inspiration, belonging, a connectedness that are most important.
Through our fundraising partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, these donations are tax-deductible.
