On behalf of the Triathlon Victoria Board, I’d like to share a brief update on how your association is managing the impacts of COVID-19.
The staff, in collaboration with the other state and territory associations and Triathlon Australia, have been incredibly responsive and adaptable since the beginning of the pandemic and associated Government restrictions.
Collectively, on your behalf, we are working through the financial impacts and acting to minimise any effect on member services and Triathlon Victoria’s modest financial reserves.
To this end, with the leadership of the Executive Director, we have acted swiftly to cease all discretionary expenditure, applied for the various Government support packages and have been preparing a range of budget scenarios for 2020-21.
To minimise operating costs, in collaboration with staff, this has meant that we have introduced a ‘temporary measure’ reducing full-time staff hours by 20% to 4 days a week. While this will mean that the team will need to make some prioritisation of projects over this period, we expect little immediate impact to the core services we provide to members clubs and individuals.
Please remember that we are a member organisation, here to serve you and triathlon’s future. In an uncertain and challenging period we, like many sporting organisations, will need our community to stick with us as we weather the financial storm and navigate our way to a return of club activities and events.
We believe passionately in the strength and resilience that triathlon develops and look forward to implementing our’ return to play’ strategy in line with the easing of Government restrictions.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
I extend the staff and Board’s wishes of health and safety to you and your loved ones.
Paul Stevens,
President
