The Williamstown Elite Triathlon Performance Youth and Junior Invitational is set to take place on April 5 in what is predicted to be match racing at its best.
The event, which is currently the only triathlon of its kind in Victoria, will see a mix of junior and youth athletes racing in the high octane draft legal version of a triathlon on a multi lapped course that is designed to test athlete capabilities.
Event Director, Mat Tippett, is excited to be staging this new and exciting event at Williamstown Beach, which can be seen as the last bastion of Triathlon in Melbourne.
“Victoria needed an event of this type, and the organisers couldn’t be more excited. The southern states from Australia are travelling down and bringing their respective developmental program athletes,” said Tippett.
“The Triathlon Victoria Development Program will be onsite with a large contingent of junior and youth athletes racing. The team assembled to make this race happen includes some of Victoria’s most prominent junior and youth development coaches. We encourage anyone to come down and join us on the morning for what promises to be a great event.
The top-150 junior and youth athletes from the southern states of Australia have been invited to race, with Oscar Dart, Oscar Reilly, Ola Evens, Lucinda Rourke, Bec Henderson, Declan Dooley, Tom Jansen, Tristin Price, Ty Davis and Amelie Gilchrist already confirmed on the start line.
A Fun Tri Challenge (7-11 years) will kick off the morning at 7:30AM, the Youth Elite Triathlon invitational (12-15 years) will follow at 8:00AM while the Junior Elite Triathlon invitational (16-19 years) at 8:10AM will round out a solid morning of racing.
This unique event offers a homely country feel in an iconic cosmopolitan precinct and athletes will benefit from a welcoming atmosphere, vibrant community, heaps of local support and an unbeatable venue.
The Williamstown Elite Triathlon Performance Youth and Junior Invitational will be held on Sunday April 5, 2020, at Williamstown Beach Swimming and Lifesaving Club.
