The Victorian triathlon community continue to come together to do their bit in supporting those who have been affected by the Victorian bushfire crisis.
As fires continue to burn and communities face the long road to recovery, a number of our triathlon clubs have used their events this season to support both those affected and those supporting the cleanup.
One such club is the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club who ran a hugely successful CFA Fundraiser event earlier this month.
With buy-in from several local community partners including Hobsons Bay Running Club, Altona Life Saving Club, Lions Club of Altona, Kennards Hire Laverton and Salter Cycles; together with Hobsons Bay City Council, residents and Altona-Village Traders Association, the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club successfully raised approx $11,000 for the Country Fire Authority.
All entry event fees, donations from event participants and supporters, plus donations exchanged for merchandise supplied by the club and Salter Cycles; all contributed to the amount raised.
The Western Suburbs Triathlon Club were delighted to see such incredible support for their event and the fantastic effort by the local community involved who came together to support the idea and the amazing work of the CFA.
