Grassroots and elite triathletes from around the country will head to Sandringham this Sunday for Race 2 of the 2XU Triathlon Series.
The event, a Triathlon Australia Age Group ITU World Championship Qualifier, will see athletes young and old on the start line with world qualification on their mind.
The top-25 athletes in each age group will be awarded points towards qualification for the Australian Age Group Team at the 2020 World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
This year, the 2XU Triathlon Series returns to Sandringham under the new ownership of 02EVENTS and lead by long-time event managers Kane Osler and Jordan O’Neill who have ensured the series remains Australia’s leading domestic triathlon series.
“It’s been exciting to see the popularity of the series increase. The support we’ve received since taking over has been incredible,” Osler said.
“We wanted to create an atmosphere where people of all ages can really enjoy racing and watching triathlon. The increase to 2000 entrants at Race 1 in Elwood last month gives us great confidence that we are delivering to our customers’ expectations.”
Grant Cosgriff, Executive Director for Triathlon Victoria said, “The 2XU Triathlon Series provides something for everyone. It caters for every level of athlete, from kids through to the elite. It’s a great event to get started, chase a personal best or try and qualify for the world champs. Best of all, it provides great connections between participants through local clubs and coaches.”
Triathlon Victoria sanction the series ensuring each event is run in accordance with Triathlon Australia’s Race Competition Rules.
Race 2 of the 2XU Triathlon Series will be held at Trevor Barker Oval in Sandringham on Sunday 8th December 2019. Events include Olympic, Sprint, Aqua Bike, Fun Tri and Kids Tri.
