Triathlon Victoria is proud to formally launch ‘TRI2gether’, a VicHealth supported program focusing getting Secondary School students involved in triathlon through the ethos of ‘finish lines, not finish times’.
A continuation of the ‘TRIstopme’ program, TRI2gether moves beyond traditional sport to offer the unique multisport challenge, building fundamental skills in swim, bike, and run, as well developing confidence through goal-setting and achievement.
Delivered by accredited triathlon coaches appointed as ‘TRI2gether Ambassadors’, the 12-session program consists of weekly swim and bike/run sessions held within the relative safety of pools, on spin bikes and in school grounds or at local leisure facilities, with students striving towards completing a mini ‘fun’ triathlon at the end of the program.
Physical Education Teacher at Waverley Christian College, Adam Dearness, said that the program appealed to students who would never typically participate in triathlon.
“We would definitely participate again. It’s been great to have a group of girls train together and many of whom would not normally get involved in a program like this,” Adam said.
